From the HRC:
“The policy making body of the American Psychological Association (APA), the world’s largest organization of psychologists, unanimously (157-0) passed a resolution supporting full marriage equality for same-sex couples. The resolution states that “many gay men and lesbians, like their heterosexual counterparts, desire to form stable, long-lasting and committed intimate relationships and are successful in doing so.”
The unanimous passage of a resolution in support of full marriage equality shows once again that equality under the law is not only inherently right, but will also benefit the health of LGBT Americans. Marriage equality will strengthen families, and in doing so, will make for stable communities.”
Hopefully, this statement by the APA will have a major impact on changing state policies.
