Maryland House Passes Transgender Protection Bill

The Maryland State House of Delegates have passed a transgender protection act that would prohibit discrimination in the areas of employment, housing and credit. It passed 86-52.The Gender Identity Anti-Discrimination Act will now be considered by the state Senate.

According to Morgan Meneses-Sheets, Equality Maryland director, supporters of the bill in the State Senate, including gay Sen. Richard Madaleno , are committed to take immediate steps to help the bill through the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee and the Senate floor.
