Pakistan’s Lesbians Live In Silence, Love In Secret


NPR reported, as a part of its incredible series ” The Hidden World Of Girls,” on the lives of lesbians in Pakistan today. (by HABIBA NOSHEEN read / listen to full story on NPR here) The article talks to several lesbians about their experiences living in an Islamic country where homosexuality is punishable by life imprisonment, and where neighbors and family members sometimes murder gay and lesbian people in ‘honor killings.’

Fatima, a woman interviewed in the piece discusses her family and childhood, how “sisterly-love” affects lesbians (acceptable female affection which allows young female lovers to stay under the radar), marriage, divorce, her current partner and their careers and safety.
